PRECURSORS AND AFTERMATHS is the journal of TheSpace Between and was founded simultaneously with the Society at Reno, Nevada,in 1997. The first issue appeared in May 2000. Like The SpaceBetween itself, the journal is devoted to scholarship on the period bracketed bythe two World Wars. The focus is primarily literary, with emphasis onlesser-known writers and understudied issues of the period; but we arealso especially interested in approaches to texts of all kinds, canonical aswell as non-canonical.
We welcome papers on any aspect of refiguringliterature and culture in English which illuminates the period from 1914-1945.We envision 4-5 articles per issue, which will be accompanied by a number ofreviews. All articles will go through a referee process, and each author willreceive an anonymous referee report.
Papers presented at The Space Between annualconferences will also be considered for publication.
The journal is edited by Dr. Kristin Bluemel. Eachauthor should send three copies of their manuscripts.

Submissions should run no more than 25 typed pages,double-spaced, including endnotes. MLA style will be the required format.Articles should be submitted in triplicate and should be unsigned. The refereeprocess will be completely anonymous. Contributors should include a stamped,self-addressed envelope and expect a wait of three months. Anyone who submits anarticle will receive a reader's report--whether the article is accepted or not.In some cases, we will encourage authors to resubmit their work for review oncecertain major modifications are made. Authors who have been accepted forpublication will be required to provide a copy of their article on disk.
